Join Pastor Peter as he continues his verse by verse study through the book of Genesis. In this teaching he looks at the three different characters found in Genesis 21 and their encounters with God. What do these encounters speak to us in our unique situations in life? Have a listen… “It’s an incredibly instructive chapter.” -Pastor Peter “We all want to draw near to the Lord and this chapter teaches us how to do this.” -Pastor Peter “We all want the ‘Sarah encounter’ where God answers in a favorable manner.” -Pastor Peter “Oftentimes we’re called to wait or told ‘no’ to a sincere desire of our heart.” -Pastor Peter “The big temptation of prosperity is that we would actually forget God.” -Pastor Peter “The more prosperous a culture becomes the more secular it becomes.” -Pastor Peter “What we want are things that God provides for us; we want the things of God, but innately the human heart doesn’t actually long for the Lord.” -Pastor Peter “Either there’s a supreme joy that exists outside of the confines of this world, or Jesus was crazy.” -Pastor Peter “Either the message of Jesus is that in God alone our hope is found, or God is merely a purveyor of gifts that may better your life.” -Pastor Peter “Why did God make Sarah wait and go through so much suffering? God is gonna make all of us wait. But God never actually says no to the desire of your heart- that’s what heaven is.” -Pastor Peter “Heaven is the consummation of all of the desires of your heart.” -Pastor Peter “More than the blessing, He wants you to understand that your longing will not be satisfied in this world.” -Pastor Peter “The idea for ancient man is that wells represented an encounter with the source of life in the middle of the wilderness.” -Pastor Peter “Until [Corrine ten Boom] is thrown into the concentration camps, does she realize that Jesus is all we have.” “They were about to kill [Corrie] but there was a clerical error and she was released, on the same day every woman her age was put in the gas chamber.. She said, ‘It is foolish to think in what ifs, for in the will of God is our hiding place.’” -Pastor Peter (Corrie ten boom) “The hiding place for the Christian is not in any protection we can build up for ourselves, but in the yearning for Him above all else.” -Pastor Peter “In the supreme will of God you become immune to the terrors of this world.” -Pastor Peter “The one who is supremely satisfied in God is the one who can be hard-pressed by not…destroyed… the person who will be ascendant no matter what this life throws at them.” -Pastor Peter “He leads us into the wilderness to figure out that’s true; where He is all we want, and we realize all we ever really needed.” -Pastor Peter #bible #calvarychapel #calvarymarana #hope #truth #secular #sacred #genesis #Abraham #Sarah #hagar #wilderness #whatweneed #true #heaven #heart #desire #heaven #no #yes #wait #corrietenboom #encounter
