Peter's Sermon Notes

The Sign of Restoration

Join Pastor Peter as he continues our study through the book of Genesis. He takes a look at Hagar, Abram and Sarai in this passage and, more than that, how God will heal a relationship between the three. There are significant and beautiful truths for us all in this sermon. God is gentle in His rebuke of Abram and is powerful in His love in reconciliation. God gives new identity and a new sign in this chapter. Have a listen! “God is restoring or bringing redemption to the failure of Abram.” -Pastor Peter “God puts together two things: rebuke and encouragement.” -Pastor Peter “The Spirit of God comes into the life of the believer and gives us the upward call.” “He encourages us toward holiness and goodness within Him.” -Pastor Peter “God meets Abram in his failure and calls him out of it.” -Pastor Peter “I have forgiven you, but I do not enable you… (says the Lord).” -Pastor Peter “When you fail, the life of Jesus is not much help because Jesus never failed.” -Pastor Peter “For people like myself, as well as you, we have to know what it means to restore relationships when we break them.” -Pastor Peter “God is actually giving sustenance to the promise that He will give us beauty for ashes.” -Pastor Peter “It was Abram’s failure as the leader of the home to cause Sarah to not understand her part in God’s eternal purposes.” -Pastor Peter “God gives Abram the ability to redeem that brokenness; He gives Abram a message to give to his wife.” -Pastor Peter “Isaac was the child who would bring laughter, or joy, to the world through his eventual descant- Christ.” -Pastor Peter “Sarai signifies someone who is not born royal but marries into royalty (a commoner who marries a prince); Sarah means ‘royal from birth’, in her identity is embedded royalty.” -Pastor Peter “The Lord says to Sarah, ‘You’re important because I have a relationship with you.'” -Pastor Peter “My wife has significance and value because she has a walk with God, not merely because of her relationship with me.” -Pastor Peter #marriage #identity #name #adam #eve #children #biblestudy #adultery #genesis #calvarychapel #calvarymarana #church #bible #men #women #sin #hope #truth #abraham #abram #covenant #goandsinnomore #love #forgive
